Mayor Dipak Majumder Leads by Example with Electric Scooter

Agartala, July 15: Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder has switched to an electric scooter for his official and political engagements, urging citizens to embrace eco-friendly transportation and contribute to fuel conservation. Announcing the decision through a social media post on Wednesday, Majumder said his move is aimed at promoting environmental sustainability while encouraging people to reduce their dependence on conventional fossil fuels.

The Mayor observed that ongoing geopolitical conflicts have disrupted fuel supplies in several parts of the world, leading to shortages in some countries. While India has not been significantly affected, he said the nation must adopt precautionary measures to strengthen long-term energy security and reduce reliance on petrol and diesel.

Majumder said his decision was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of sustainable development and Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha's appeal for greater adoption of electric vehicles in Tripura. He added that public representatives should lead by example in promoting environmentally responsible practices. Expressing confidence that his initiative would motivate others to make the transition to cleaner modes of transport, the Mayor said wider use of electric vehicles would help curb air pollution, conserve fuel resources and support India's efforts towards a greener and more sustainable future.
