Skill Training Rewrites Future for South Tripura Youth

Forced to abandon higher education due to his family's modest farming income, Amit Tripura from Ghorakappa village has rewritten his future by landing a job in Bengaluru recently through a state-run skill development initiative.
According to officials, Amit, a resident of Annabandupara in South Tripura, completed his twelfth-grade education but could not study further because of severe financial constraints. His father works as an agricultural laborer, and his mother is a homemaker. With the family surviving on a monthly income of just 12,000 to 15,000 rupees, Amit spent a long period unemployed at home, facing a highly uncertain professional path.
A turning point arrived when he connected with the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). Facilitated by the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), Amit enrolled in a completely free, three-month vocational course. He received specialized training to become a Retail Sales Associate, successfully meeting the NSQF Level-4 standard. The program reportedly equipped him with practical workplace knowledge, technical abilities, and the confidence needed for the corporate sector.
Following his certification, the young man secured a position at Nexon Omniverse Limited in Bengaluru. He currently earns an annual salary of 2,33,300 rupees. It is learned that this stable income has enabled him to achieve his career goals while steadily improving his family's financial situation back in his village.
Moreover, the government livelihood scheme focuses on providing rural youth with cost-free skill development, industry-recognized certifications, and assured employment opportunities. Authorities note that Amit's journey from a remote village to a corporate work environment demonstrates how targeted vocational training can directly combat rural unemployment and help young people from modest backgrounds secure positions in established organizations.
