Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurates Sensitization Workshop on the Motor Vehicles Act

Agartala, July 14: Reaffirming the Tripura government's commitment to strengthening road safety and ensuring effective implementation of traffic laws, Transport, Tourism and Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday inaugurated a two-day Sensitization Workshop on the Motor Vehicles Act and Associated Rules at Pragya Bhawan in Agartala.
The workshop, organised for officials of the Transport Department and Tripura Police, is aimed at enhancing institutional capacity, improving understanding of the Motor Vehicles Act and its associated rules, and strengthening coordination among agencies responsible for enforcing traffic regulations across the state.
Addressing the gathering, Chowdhury said that effective enforcement of traffic laws is essential for reducing road accidents and ensuring the safety of commuters. He noted that the workshop would equip officials with better knowledge of the Act and its practical application, enabling them to implement the law more efficiently and uniformly.
The minister said the state government is committed to building a safe, modern and accountable transport system through continuous capacity building, adoption of technology and better coordination among enforcement agencies. He stressed that a citizen-centric approach to transport administration is key to improving public services and enhancing road safety.
Officials participating in the workshop will undergo training on various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and its associated rules, with a focus on their practical implementation in day-to-day enforcement. Chowdhury expressed confidence that such initiatives would help develop a more efficient transport administration while promoting safer roads and greater public awareness of traffic regulations across Tripura.
