India’s Exports Rise 11.37% in Q1

India’s total exports, including merchandise and services, rose by 11.37 per cent to over US$232 billion during the April–June quarter compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

In June alone, total exports were estimated at US$73.45 billion, registering a 9.48 per cent year-on-year increase.

The ministry said the growth in merchandise exports was driven by strong performance in gems and jewellery, engineering goods, organic and inorganic chemicals, electronic goods, and rice.

Exports of electronic goods recorded a notable increase of around 19 per cent, rising from US$4.14 billion in June last year to US$4.93 billion in June this year.

Meanwhile, total imports, including merchandise and services, were estimated at US$88.76 billion in June, reflecting a more than 26 per cent increase compared to the same month last year.
