The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has completed the restoration and beautification work of a heritage pond near Ujan Abhaynagar Market in Ward No. 11, with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha scheduled to inaugurate the revamped site shortly.
AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder on Sunday announced that the long-neglected water body, which had remained filled with garbage and in a poor condition for decades, has been transformed as part of the civic body’s initiative to restore urban water bodies and improve public spaces across the city.
Sharing the update through his social media handle, Mayor Majumder said the restoration work was almost complete and the rejuvenated pond would soon be opened for residents after its formal inauguration by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
The mayor personally inspected the site on Sunday to review the final stages of the project and assess the quality of the finishing work. He directed officials to complete the remaining tasks on time and ensure that the area is ready ahead of the inauguration ceremony.
Ward No. 11 Corporator Hiralal Debnath and other AMC officials accompanied Mayor Majumder during the inspection.
Appreciating the efforts of the municipal team, Majumder stressed the importance of maintaining restored public spaces. He said the revival of the historic pond would enhance the beauty of the locality, support environmental conservation, and provide residents with a cleaner and more attractive community space.
