President Murmu expresses grief over demise of playback singer S Janaki Amma


President Droupadi Murmu has expressed deep grief over the demise of legendary playback singer S. Janaki Amma, describing her as a musical icon whose extraordinary voice captivated generations of listeners.

In a social media post, the President said the country has lost a legendary artist whose illustrious career spanned more than six decades. She noted that S. Janaki Amma recorded thousands of songs in nearly 20 Indian languages, including Hindi, Odia, Tulu, Urdu, Punjabi and Bengali.

President Murmu said S. Janaki Amma's timeless music will continue to inspire generations and remain a priceless part of India's cultural heritage. She also conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and her countless admirers.
