Abbas Sets Palestinian Legislative Elections for November

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has announced that legislative elections will be held on November 28, 2026, marking the first parliamentary polls in Palestine since 2006.

In a presidential decree issued on Friday, Abbas designated Saturday, November 28, as the date for the elections, which are planned to take place across all Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip.

The decree said the elections are intended to strengthen democratic institutions and complete the electoral process in Palestine.

If held as scheduled, the vote will be the first legislative election in two decades, following repeated delays and political divisions that have prevented previous elections from taking place.
