Assam Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah on Friday presented the State Budget for 2026–27 in the Legislative Assembly, outlining a development-oriented roadmap with a strong focus on employment generation and infrastructure.
Presenting the budget, the minister said the government aims to create more than two lakh jobs while accelerating growth across key sectors, including agriculture, education, urban development and welfare.
To support the state's infrastructure push, the government has proposed an outlay of ₹10,000 crore. A major share of this allocation—₹4,954 crore—has been earmarked for the Guwahati Ring Road Project, one of the state's flagship infrastructure initiatives.
Describing the budget as a vision for Assam's development over the next five years, Baruah said the government is committed to promoting inclusive growth through sustained investments in public infrastructure and employment opportunities.
