Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Friday said that the next phase of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) will focus on maximizing its adoption and utilization across the country, following the creation of a robust digital healthcare infrastructure.
Chairing the third meeting of the Mission Steering Group, the Minister reviewed the progress of the flagship digital health initiative. The meeting noted that the ABDM has emerged as one of the world's largest digital health ecosystems, with nearly 94 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) numbers created and over 105 crore health records linked to the platform.
The Mission has also registered around 5.33 lakh health facilities and nearly 10 lakh healthcare professionals on the national digital health registries, reflecting the steady expansion of the digital health network.
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Nadda said technology must continue to serve as a powerful enabler for achieving Universal Health Coverage while ensuring inclusiveness, accessibility and ease of use for every citizen. He also highlighted the transformative role of digital public infrastructure in improving access to quality healthcare, ensuring continuity of care and empowering citizens through secure, consent-based access to their health records.
The meeting also discussed the future roadmap of the Mission, with a focus on expanding digital health adoption, leveraging emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, strengthening institutional capabilities and deepening collaboration with States and Union Territories.
