Bridging Health Gaps: Dual Schemes Ensure Cashless Treatment for Over 6.6 Lakh Residents

Agartala, Jul 10: While the central Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY continues to anchor health coverage in Tripura with over 16.63 lakh cards generated, the state’s parallel initiative, Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CMJAY), has quickly expanded the safety net by adding 632,652 cardholders to the system. According to the latest updates shared by officials, this dual-tier structure aims to transform healthcare by ensuring access to paperless treatment for every eligible household across Tripura.
While PM-JAY has registered a massive baseline of 16,63,991 cards, the CMJAY scheme, introduced by the state government in 2023, has strengthened this safety net with 6,32,652 cardholders (though supplementary data records the count at 6,32,653). In terms of healthcare deployment, the operational reach of both programs spans nationwide and state-level facilities. Reports indicate that a significant volume of residents has transitioned to these frameworks, with 5,70,649 beneficiaries successfully availing themselves of cashless treatment under PM-JAY.
Meanwhile, the state-backed CMJAY has provided cashless medical care to 92,408 beneficiaries. These medical operations are being actively carried out across a widespread network of empanelled hospitals located within Tripura as well as outside the state borders. Financially, both initiatives insulate families from hardship by providing essential medical insurance up to Rs 5 lakh per eligible family. This robust welfare framework has resulted in substantial economic relief, with claims amounting to Rs 307.78 crore settled under PM-JAY and Rs 50.18 crore cleared under CMJAY to date. Officials noted that the joint execution of these schemes is actively fulfilling the promise of good health, effectively protecting lives, empowering local communities, and bringing happiness and dignity to all citizens across the state.
