India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-petrochemical complex inaugrated in Rajasthan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Rajasthan and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹1.05 lakh crore.
Addressing a public gathering, the Prime Minister said India had successfully navigated the global energy crisis triggered by the conflict in West Asia through timely decisions, strategic planning and proactive diplomacy. Describing it as the biggest energy crisis of the 21st century, he said that while many countries faced acute energy shortages, India strengthened its energy security by expanding its network of energy suppliers.
Mr. Modi said India diversified its crude oil imports from around 25–26 countries to nearly 40 countries during the crisis, ensuring uninterrupted energy supplies. He added that the country's strong diplomatic ties with friendly nations played a key role in overcoming the challenge.
Highlighting the country's progress in the energy sector, the Prime Minister said India has significantly expanded its refining capacity and is now the world's fourth-largest refining nation. He also said the government's handling of LPG supply challenges during the crisis would be remembered for its resilience, hard work and diplomatic efforts.
Mr. Modi thanked the people for their cooperation during the difficult period and criticised those who, he said, chose to politicise the crisis and spread misinformation instead of supporting the nation's efforts.
Referring to the impact of the conflicts in the Gulf region and Ukraine on global fertiliser supplies, the Prime Minister said international urea prices had risen to nearly ₹3,000 per bag in many countries. Despite this, he said, the government ensured that Indian farmers continued to receive urea at around ₹300 per bag, shielding them from soaring global prices.
