CM Neiphiu Rio virtually Inaugurates 16 Sports Projects in Nagaland

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday virtually inaugurated 16 sports infrastructure projects, including four under the Khelo India programme and 12 funded by the State Government, at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex in Kohima.
The inauguration programme was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Y. Patton and T.R. Zeliang, advisors and senior state officials, while Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya joined the event virtually.
The Khelo India projects include the construction of multipurpose halls at Changtongya and Mangkolemba in Mokokchung district, Kuhuboto in Niuland district, and a prefabricated indoor sports hall at the Police Reserve in Wokha Town.
The State-funded projects comprise futsal grounds, prefabricated multipurpose halls and other sports infrastructure across Kiphire, Noklak, Wokha, Phek, Mon, Chümoukedima, Kohima, Dimapur and Peren districts.
In a post on X after the inauguration, Rio thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision for India's youth and sports, saying the country is emerging as a global sporting powerhouse. He said the new facilities would create greater opportunities for the youth of Nagaland.
The Chief Minister said the State Government has adopted a long-term strategy to transform the sports sector by developing quality infrastructure and providing world-class training facilities to help athletes excel and bring laurels to Nagaland and the nation.
