Ratan Lal Nath, Sushanta Chowdhury Lead MSP Paddy Procurement Push

Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday jointly reviewed the state's preparedness for the procurement of rabi-season paddy under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme, directing officials to ensure a smooth, transparent and farmer-friendly procurement process.

The high-level review meeting was held through a video conference from the State Secretariat and was attended by senior officials of the Food and Agriculture departments, chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of all Panchayat Samitis, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) and Block Development Officers (BDOs).

The ministers assessed the final operational arrangements for the procurement drive and instructed officials to strengthen coordination at every level to ensure timely procurement and hassle-free implementation of the MSP programme across the state.

Highlighting the government's commitment to the farming community, Sushanta Chowdhury said the state administration is determined to ensure that every eligible farmer benefits from the MSP scheme. "Our government remains committed to the welfare of farmers and will continue its efforts to bring smiles to their faces. This year's procurement process will be carried out in a proper and transparent manner," he said.

Ratan Lal Nath stressed the importance of ground-level preparedness and directed officials to complete all necessary arrangements well in advance so that farmers can sell their paddy at the assured MSP without delay or inconvenience.

The meeting reaffirmed the Tripura government's focus on strengthening agricultural support systems and ensuring remunerative prices for farmers through the effective implementation of the MSP procurement programme.
