Agriculture Key to Viksit Bharat: Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday said that the vision of a developed India, or Viksit Bharat, cannot be realised without strengthening the agriculture sector.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan in Hisar, Haryana, Chouhan said the government is developing a mobile application that will provide farmers with information on soil health and recommend the appropriate quantity of fertilisers based on soil requirements.
He urged farmers to use fertilisers and insecticides in a balanced manner to preserve soil fertility and encouraged them to adopt organic farming practices for sustainable agricultural growth.
The minister also said the government is exploring measures to tackle the impact of below-normal rainfall caused by the El Niño effect. Praising the farmers of Haryana, he said their contribution has played a vital role in transforming India's agriculture sector and ensuring adequate food grain stocks for the country.
