Tripura signs MoU to modernize 3 district hospitals

In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare services in Tripura, the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for the supply and operationalisation of advanced medical equipment in three district hospitals.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced that the state will receive 48 AI-enabled portable handheld X-ray machines, three 1.5 Tesla MRI machines and three Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) mammography units under the Prime Minister's Fund. The equipment is expected to enhance diagnostic capabilities and improve access to quality healthcare across the state.
According to the Chief Minister, the MRI machines and mammography units will be installed at the district hospitals in Dhalai, North Tripura and Gomati, while the AI-enabled handheld X-ray machines will strengthen diagnostic services across healthcare facilities. He said the initiative would considerably improve patient care and modernise the state's public health infrastructure.
Dr. Saha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda for extending continued support to Tripura's healthcare sector. He also attended the 16th Conference of the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi, where Centre and state governments reviewed the progress of national health programmes and discussed strategies to improve healthcare delivery. During the event, the Chief Minister participated in the launch of the 'SUMAN Roadmap 2030', a national framework aimed at strengthening maternal and newborn healthcare.
