House-to-House Electoral Verification Begins in Meghalaya

The house-to-house verification of voters under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls commenced across Meghalaya on Tuesday.

A total of 1,021 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit households across all 1,021 polling stations until July 29 to distribute pre-filled self-enumeration forms to voters whose names are already included in the 2025 electoral roll.

East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal said that no documents are required during the initial stage of the exercise. Electors only need to complete and return the self-enumeration forms. Additional documents will be sought only in cases requiring clarification, and voters will be given sufficient time to submit them.

The door-to-door verification will be followed by the publication of the draft electoral roll on August 5. The period for filing claims and objections will remain open from August 5 to September 4.
