PM Modi Backs Tripura's Queen Pineapple Push, CM Saha Calls It a Proud Moment

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his encouraging message on the occasion of the Tripura Global Pineapple Festival 2026, saying the Prime Minister's support has further strengthened the state's commitment to empowering farmers and taking Tripura's world-renowned GI-tagged Queen Pineapple to global markets.

Sharing the Prime Minister's letter on his official social media handle, Dr. Saha described it as "a moment of immense pride" for the Global Pineapple Festival and for the farmers of Tripura.

"My heartfelt gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji for his encouraging letter and warm wishes. His inspiring words and unwavering support reaffirm our commitment to empowering farmers, promoting agricultural excellence, and expanding global market opportunities for Tripura's world-renowned Queen Pineapple. Together, we will continue to strengthen our farmers, boost exports, and showcase Tripura's agricultural potential on the global stage," the Chief Minister wrote.

In his message dated June 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Government of Tripura, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), and everyone associated with organising the Tripura Global Pineapple Festival 2026 in New Delhi. He described the festival as a thoughtful initiative to showcase Tripura's renowned Queen Pineapple to a wider audience.

The Prime Minister said Tripura, blessed with abundant natural resources, is widely known for its horticultural produce, and the Queen Pineapple, distinguished by its unique aroma and sweetness, is a source of pride for the people of the state. He noted that the Geographical Indication (GI) tag awarded to the fruit is an important recognition of Tripura's rich agricultural heritage.

Highlighting the significance of the festival, Modi said it brings together farmers, entrepreneurs, exporters, researchers, industry leaders and policymakers on a common platform. He expressed confidence that such collaborations would strengthen value chains, expand access to new markets, encourage innovation and create greater opportunities for farmers, ultimately establishing Tripura as a leading global source of premium pineapples.

The Prime Minister also referred to the Centre's vision of "Act East, Act Fast and Act First" for the development of the Northeast over the past 12 years, stating that sustained efforts have been made to unlock the region's immense potential by building on its natural and cultural strengths.

Recalling his deep affection for the people of Tripura, Modi said initiatives like the Global Pineapple Festival reflect the government's commitment to making the unique strengths of the Northeast an integral part of India's growth story. He expressed confidence that the festival would enhance the international recognition of Tripura's Queen Pineapple, attract new trade and investment opportunities, and contribute significantly to the prosperity of the state's farmers.

Invoking the blessings of Mata Tripura Sundari, the Prime Minister wished the people of Tripura continued peace, prosperity and development, expressing confidence that "Viksit Tripura" would play a vital role in achieving the vision of "Viksit Bharat."

The Chief Minister's remarks and the Prime Minister's message come as the Tripura Global Pineapple Festival seeks to position the state's premium Queen Pineapple in international markets while creating better income opportunities for farmers through value addition, exports and global branding.
