CM Manik Saha Calls for Sustainable Farming, Hails PM Modi’s Agricultural Vision

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday urged farmers to embrace sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices, stating that farming should not be driven solely by economic gains but must also safeguard the interests of future generations.
Speaking at the inaugural session of a one-day workshop under the 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan' at Bamutia Berimura School, the Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership in transforming India's agricultural sector. He said that under the Prime Minister's visionary guidance, the country's farmers and agriculture-based economy have witnessed significant progress through various farmer-centric initiatives.
Dr. Saha stressed that while modern agriculture has enhanced productivity, excessive dependence on chemical fertilisers and pesticides poses long-term risks to soil health, the environment and public well-being. He called upon farmers to adopt organic and bio-based farming methods to ensure sustainable agricultural growth and strengthen food security.
Highlighting the objectives of the 'Khet Bachao Abhiyan', the Chief Minister said the campaign reflects the Centre's commitment to promoting environmentally responsible farming practices. He encouraged farmers to actively participate in government training programmes and make full use of the schemes introduced under the initiative.
Emphasising the need for collective action, Dr. Saha said sustainable farming is the key to preserving natural resources, improving agricultural productivity and ensuring a prosperous future for the farming community. He reiterated the state government's commitment to supporting farmers through awareness programmes, modern technologies and eco-friendly agricultural practices.
