Mayor Dipak Majumder Pays Rich Tribute to Bankim Chandra

Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder on Friday paid rich tributes to renowned novelist and composer of Vande Mataram, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, on the occasion of his birth anniversary, describing him as one of India's greatest literary figures whose works continue to inspire generations.
The Mayor attended a commemorative programme organised by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department at Muktadhara Auditorium, where he offered floral tributes and laid a wreath before the portrait of the legendary writer.
Speaking on the occasion, Majumder highlighted Bankim Chandra's unparalleled contribution to Bengali literature and India's cultural and nationalist awakening. He said the author's timeless works, especially Vande Mataram, remain a symbol of patriotism and continue to motivate people with the ideals of courage, unity and national pride.
The programme was attended by State Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Vice-Chairman of the State Cultural Advisory Committee Subrata Chakraborty, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, along with other dignitaries, cultural personalities and officials.
The event concluded with floral tributes, readings from Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay's literary works and cultural presentations, celebrating the enduring legacy of the iconic author and his invaluable contribution to Indian literature and the freedom movement.
