Blast Rocks Ramnagar Apartment Building, Two Injured
Jun 25, 2026
A powerful blast-like explosion tore through a multi-story residential building in the Ramnagar area of the city early afternoon, injuring two people and damaging at least 12 to 13 flats, sending panic-stricken residents rushing out of the building as police, fire brigade, and administrative officials scrambled to the spot.
Eyewitnesses present at the scene described the moment of the explosion with visible shock. "There was a deafening sound, like a bomb going off. The building shook and we just ran," a resident reportedly said. Many occupants abandoned their flats immediately and gathered in the surrounding area, causing widespread commotion in the neighbourhood.
According to local sources, part of the building was scorched almost instantly following the blast. "Within moments, one section of the building was on fire and several flats were damaged beyond immediate use," a local source said. The two injured persons were rescued from the spot and rushed to hospital for treatment.
Police, fire brigade personnel, and administration officials reached the site promptly after receiving information. Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder also visited the building, inspected the damage, and spoke with affected residents directly.
Preliminary investigation suggests that either an electrical fault or a sudden failure of mechanical equipment may have triggered the explosion. However, authorities have not confirmed the exact cause. "A detailed investigation is underway and the safety of the building is being thoroughly assessed," an official source said.
