PM Modi Urges IAS Trainees to Put Citizens at the Centre of Governance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday stressed the principle of “Nagrik Devo Bhava” and urged young civil servants to place citizens at the heart of governance while contributing to the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Addressing 183 IAS officer trainees of the 2024 batch who are currently serving as Assistant Secretaries in various ministries and departments, the Prime Minister called upon them to dedicate themselves to nation-building with a strong sense of purpose, innovation, and citizen-centric administration.
Emphasising the need for a whole-of-government approach, Mr Modi said major developmental challenges cannot be addressed in isolation and require effective coordination among departments to achieve lasting results.
Highlighting the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, he said every policy and administrative decision in the coming decades should contribute towards building a developed nation. He noted that key national priorities include Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India, manufacturing growth, energy security, and creating opportunities for the country's youth.
The Prime Minister also pointed to the transformation in governance over the past decade, stating that the administration has moved from a process-centric model to a results-oriented approach.
Underscoring the growing role of women in nation-building, Mr Modi noted that more than 40 per cent of the current IAS trainee batch comprises women officers.
He urged the young officers to regularly assess their contribution to nation-building and derive satisfaction from the tangible outcomes they achieve for citizens rather than the positions they hold. Expressing confidence in their abilities, the Prime Minister said their energy, talent, and dedication would play a vital role in advancing India's development journey.
