Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday held a crucial meeting with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Chairman Meenesh Shah to discuss a roadmap for strengthening Tripura’s dairy sector and improving the livelihoods of farmers dependent on dairy farming.

The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s official residence, focused on enhancing milk production, modernising dairy infrastructure and expanding opportunities for rural entrepreneurs and dairy farmers across the state.

During the discussions, Dr. Saha underscored the state government’s commitment to boosting the dairy industry through improved facilities, technical support and farmer-centric initiatives. He highlighted the importance of dairy farming as a key contributor to rural employment and income generation in Tripura.

NDDB Chairman Meenesh Shah shared the Board’s expertise and expressed willingness to collaborate with the state in implementing programmes aimed at increasing productivity, strengthening milk procurement systems and developing a sustainable dairy ecosystem.

The two leaders also explored measures to create long-term livelihood opportunities through value-added dairy activities and cooperative development. They agreed to continue consultations and formulate concrete action plans tailored to the needs of Tripura’s dairy sector.

The meeting reflects the state government’s continued focus on promoting agriculture and allied sectors as drivers of rural development and economic growth, with a special emphasis on empowering farmers and enhancing their income through sustainable dairy initiatives.
