Tripura Ramps Up Farmer Training as Khet Bachao Abhiyan Enters Final Week
Jun 23, 2026
As the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan enters its final week, Tripura has seen sustained activity with multiple programmes held across the state in the last few days, including notable events on June 22 at Chittamara and West Paikhola in South Tripura.
ICAR-RC NEH Tripura Centre, collaborating with KVK South Tripura and the Department of Agriculture, is driving efforts to promote natural farming and soil conservation.
The programmes focused on raising farmer awareness and delivering hands-on training in natural farming methods. Organisers emphasised balanced fertiliser application, adoption of eco-friendly technologies, and climate-smart agriculture practices to maintain long-term soil fertility.
According to details from the events, participants discussed judicious use of fertilisers under the Atma Kharif 2026 campaign. Group interactions highlighted the importance of sustainable approaches for healthier farmlands in the region.
Similar outreach activities have been organised in various districts over the past week, reflecting a coordinated state-wide push. Officials and scientists engaged directly with local farmers through demonstrations and discussions.
The campaign aims to equip farmers with practical knowledge for preserving soil health while supporting productive Kharif season cultivation. These efforts continue as part of the broader national initiative running through June.
