TSECL Awards Rs 763-Crore Smart Grid Contract to IRCON-Badri Rai JV for Agartala

Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited has awarded a works contract worth over Rs 763 crore to a joint venture of IRCON International Limited and M/s Badri Rai and Company for the development of a smart grid infrastructure system across the Agartala Municipality Area, marking one of the most significant power sector investments in the state capital in recent years.
The contract, signed on June 22, 2026, is valued at Rs 763.10 crore including 18 percent GST and is to be executed over 24 months.
The joint venture is led by M/s Badri Rai and Company as Lead Partner with a 74 percent share worth Rs 564.69 crore. IRCON International Limited, a Navratna company under the Government of India, holds the remaining 26 percent share worth Rs 198.40 crore.
IRCON disclosed the receipt of the Letter of Award to BSE and the National Stock Exchange on June 23, in compliance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The scope of work covers the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, and commissioning of an underground high and low tension power cable network, along with smart grid applications including SCADA, Advanced Distribution Management System, Outage Management System, and GIS mapping. An underground optical fibre communication system and a Smart Grid Control Centre with main and backup facilities are also included. The project further covers Distribution Network Automation and integration with third-party billing, ERP, and customer information systems.
The contract is classified as a domestic works contract with no related party transactions involved.
