CM Manik Saha Leads Olympic Day Rally, Calls for Greater Sports Participation


Agartala, June 23: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday flagged off the Olympic Day Rally organised by the Tripura Olympic Association at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan and urged people to embrace sports and fitness as essential components of a healthy lifestyle.The Chief Minister also participated in the rally, which was organised to commemorate Olympic Day and promote the core values of the Olympic movement—excellence, friendship and respect. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from sports enthusiasts, students and members of the public.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha reaffirmed the state government's commitment to strengthening sports at the grassroots level and encouraging greater youth involvement in athletic activities. He said sports play a vital role in building character, discipline and a healthy society. “Let us continue to promote the spirit of sportsmanship and encourage greater participation in physical activities for a healthier and stronger society,” the Chief Minister said.

Dr. Saha noted that the state government has been taking various initiatives to develop sports infrastructure and create opportunities for young athletes to excel at national and international levels. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Science, Technology and Environment Minister Animesh Debbarma, along with other dignitaries, were present at the programme.The rally highlighted the importance of fitness and physical activity while reinforcing the Olympic ideals among people of all age groups.
