West Tripura DM Tours Jirania to Assess Ground-level Development Progress
Jun 19, 2026
West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Dr Vishal Kumar on Friday toured multiple sites under Jirania R.D. Block in Jirania Sub-division to personally assess the ground-level progress of development projects and the reach of government services to ordinary citizens.
The day-long visit took the District Magistrate across several important locations within the block, covering Paschim Ranigaon S.B. School, Majlishpur Anganwadi Centre, the construction site of a new Gram Panchayat building, various CC road construction projects, Harijoy Chowdhury Park, and the Brajanagar Ayushman Arogya Mandir Health Sub-Centre.
At each site, Dr. Kumar reviewed the status of ongoing works, inspected the condition of existing infrastructure, and evaluated the quality of public service delivery mechanisms. He paid close attention to whether development projects are progressing on schedule and whether welfare schemes are actually reaching the people they are meant to serve.
"The District Magistrate assessed the status of ongoing development works and interacted with local residents to understand local needs and challenges," the administration stated. He held direct conversations with ordinary citizens, elected representatives, and officials throughout the visit, gathering firsthand information that goes beyond what formal progress reports typically reflect.
According to the district administration, special emphasis was placed on three priorities during the inspection: timely implementation of government schemes, improvement of civic amenities, and strengthening of service delivery mechanisms across the block. Concerned departments were directed to accelerate pending works while ensuring quality is not sacrificed in the process.
However, the visit was not limited to infrastructure review alone. The inspection of the Majlishpur Anganwadi Centre and the Brajanagar Ayushman Arogya Mandir Health Sub-Centre underlined the administration's attention to social sector services and their accessibility at the village level.
The day's programme concluded with a review meeting at Uttar Majlishpur Gram Panchayat, where Dr. Kumar held detailed discussions with departmental officials and stakeholders. Progress on ongoing projects was examined in depth, and follow-up actions were mapped out for effective implementation.
The district administration stated that regular field visits remain central to West Tripura's governance model, ensuring that development and welfare initiatives translate into tangible benefits for citizens on the ground.
