Mayor Leads Border Road Inspection, Promises Monsoon-Ready Infrastructure

Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder on Thursday led a high-level inspection of the bypass road along the Agartala–Akhaura India-Bangladesh international border, reaffirming the civic body's commitment to addressing drainage issues and improving road infrastructure ahead of the monsoon season.
Accompanied by local corporators Tushar Kanti Bhattacharjee and Nitu Dey, Minority Development Corporation Chairman Jasim Uddin, former BJP state president Dr. Manoj Kanti Debroy, the Municipal Commissioner, and senior AMC engineers, the Mayor reviewed the condition of the road and its drainage network in detail.
The inspection focused on identifying areas vulnerable to waterlogging, damaged stretches of road, and potholes that often create difficulties for commuters during heavy rainfall. Mayor Majumder held extensive discussions with municipal engineers and officials regarding the recurring challenges faced by residents and the measures required to ensure smooth transportation in the border-area localities.
Speaking during the visit, the Mayor said the Agartala Municipal Corporation is determined to resolve waterlogging and pothole-related problems before the peak monsoon period. He directed officials to expedite technical assessments and prepare a comprehensive action plan for drainage improvement and road repairs.
“Ensuring proper drainage and maintaining road infrastructure are essential for public convenience and safety. Necessary measures will be taken on priority to address these issues before heavy rains set in,” Majumder said.
