India Beat Uruguay 3–2, Top Pool A in FIH Women’s Nations Cup

India continued their impressive run at the FIH Women’s Nations Cup, defeating Uruguay 3–2 in their final Pool A match to register a third consecutive win and finish at the top of the standings.

Uruguay took an early lead through Chiara Appennino in the 13th minute, but India responded strongly as Deepika equalised in the 24th minute via a penalty corner. Deepika Soreng then put India ahead in the 43rd minute with a well-taken field goal.

Uruguay captain Manuela Vilar restored parity in the 55th minute, setting up a tense finish. However, Deepika struck again just a minute later to complete her brace and secure victory for India.

With the win, India advance to the semifinals unbeaten in the group stage, where they will face the winner of the Chile vs South Korea clash on June 20. The match also marked a milestone for Neha, who completed 200 international appearances for India.
