Central Top Brass Joins CPI(M) Agartala Strategy Meet
Jun 18, 2026Village Committee election strategy and a review of CPI(M)'s showing in 5 recently concluded state assembly polls are set to dominate a two-day state committee meeting the party opened in Agartala on Thursday, state secretary and Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury said.
The meeting is being held at Dasharath Deb Smriti Bhavan in the state capital. All-India General Secretary M.A. Baby arrived in Tripura for the deliberations, along with Politburo members Mohammed Salim and Sridip Bhattacharya. Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is also present.
Speaking to the media, Chaudhury said, "The results and political situation relating to the recently held elections in 5 states and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) polls will be reviewed in detail."
"Party organisational activities, improving public outreach, and the outline of future agitation and struggles will also be discussed," he added.
He further said, "Strengthening the organisation and making cadres more active are among the key agenda items, alongside a review of the current political situation in the state."
CPI(M) had failed to win a single seat in the previous round of Village Committee elections in the TTAADC areas.
Chaudhury said decisions from the two-day meeting "will play an important role in determining the party's political and organisational programmes in the days ahead." The meeting continues on Friday.
