PM Modi Holds Bilateral Talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Sidelines of G7 Summit


Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France, reaffirming the commitment of India and Germany to further strengthen their strategic partnership.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Modi described the discussions as “very fruitful” in a post on social media. He said both leaders explored ways to deepen cooperation across a range of sectors, including trade, investment, circular economy, defence, and information technology.

The two leaders also discussed measures to enhance cultural exchanges and strengthen people-to-people ties between India and Germany, highlighting the importance of closer engagement beyond economic and strategic cooperation.

The meeting comes at a time when India and Germany are seeking to expand collaboration in key areas of mutual interest and further bolster bilateral relations. The talks underscored the shared commitment of both nations to promoting economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development through stronger partnership and cooperation.
