Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday underscored the importance of natural farming as a sustainable and self-reliant model for agriculture while participating in the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ (Save Fields Campaign) and a workshop on natural farming at Aralia under Dukli subdivision.
Interacting with farmers during the programme, Nath said natural farming plays a crucial role in protecting the environment while reducing dependence on chemical inputs and lowering cultivation costs. He noted that the adoption of eco-friendly agricultural practices would help strengthen the rural economy and ensure long-term sustainability in the farming sector.
Highlighting the contribution of farmers to the nation’s food security, the minister described them as the backbone of the country and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to their welfare and empowerment.
Nath said the government is working in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building an Atmanirbhar Bharat through a strong and resilient agricultural sector. He expressed confidence that initiatives such as the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ and awareness programmes on natural farming would encourage more farmers to embrace sustainable cultivation methods.
The minister further stated that such campaigns would contribute significantly to creating a prosperous agricultural ecosystem while ensuring environmental conservation for future generations.
