India, Slovakia Elevate Ties to Comprehensive Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Slovak counterpart, Robert Fico, held delegation-level talks in Bratislava today, during which the two countries agreed to elevate their bilateral relationship to the status of a Comprehensive Partnership.
Addressing a joint press conference after the talks, Modi said that defense cooperation between India and Slovakia reflects deep mutual trust and strategic convergence. He announced that both sides had signed a Letter of Intent in the defense sector to further strengthen collaboration.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of developing artificial intelligence in a manner that upholds trust, responsibility, and human dignity. He noted that a Memorandum of Understanding signed on digital technology would create new opportunities for cooperation between the two nations.
Speaking on the occasion, Fico praised India's rapid economic growth, digital transformation, and advancements in artificial intelligence, stating that the country has outperformed many advanced economies in key sectors. He also reiterated Slovakia’s support for India’s bid for permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.
The discussions marked a significant step forward in India-Slovakia relations, with both sides expressing commitment to expanding cooperation across strategic and technological domains.
