CM Manik Saha Expands Bicycle Scheme to Cover All Class IX Girls

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday announced a major expansion of the state government's Free Bicycle Distribution Scheme for Class IX girl students, removing the family income ceiling and making the benefit available to all eligible girls across Tripura.

Highlighting the government's commitment to women's empowerment through education, Dr. Saha said the decision has been taken in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of strengthening "Nari Shakti" and ensuring greater access to educational opportunities for girls.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the statewide bicycle distribution programme at Shishu Bihar School in Agartala. Under the initiative, as many as 41,800 Class IX girl students across the state will receive free bicycles during the current academic year.

In a message shared on his social media handle, Dr. Saha stated that empowering women through education remains one of the government's highest priorities. He noted that the scheme is designed to support girls in continuing their education by easing transportation challenges, particularly in rural and remote areas.

The Chief Minister said the bicycles would help improve school attendance, enhance access to education, and encourage students to pursue their aspirations with greater confidence and determination. He emphasized that the initiative reflects the government's broader commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for the education and development of girls.

The expanded scheme is expected to benefit thousands of families and further strengthen efforts to promote girls' education and empowerment across Tripura.
