India, Bangladesh Reaffirm Commitment to Peaceful Border Management

India and Bangladesh have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace, tranquillity, and stability along their shared international border during the 57th Director General (DG) Level Border Coordination Conference held in New Delhi from June 8 to 11.
The conference between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) served as a key platform to review the prevailing border situation and address issues of mutual concern related to border security and management.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen coordinated patrolling, enhance real-time information sharing, improve vigilance, and intensify joint efforts to combat trans-border criminal networks operating along the frontier.
The Indian delegation was led by BSF Director General Praveen Kumar, while the Bangladeshi delegation was headed by BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui. At the conclusion of the talks, both sides signed a Joint Record of Discussions, expressing confidence that the agreed measures would further enhance bilateral cooperation and contribute to more effective border management and stronger friendly relations between the two countries.
The next DG-level conference is proposed to be held in Dhaka in November 2026, at a mutually convenient date.
