PM Modi Embarks on Six-Day France and Slovakia Visit, to Attend G7 Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a six-day visit to France and Slovakia, during which he will hold high-level bilateral talks, participate in the G7 Summit, and attend key innovation and technology events.
In his departure statement, the Prime Minister described France as a vital partner in India’s strategic vision and said the visit would focus on strengthening economic, technological, and cultural ties between the two countries. During his stay in France, Mr. Modi will jointly inaugurate the Bharat Innovates event with French President Emmanuel Macron. The initiative aims to connect India’s leading start-ups with global investors and promote innovation emerging from the country’s higher education ecosystem.
Following his engagements in France, the Prime Minister will travel to Slovakia for a two-day visit. In Bratislava, he is scheduled to meet Slovak President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico. Mr. Modi said the visit would further strengthen India’s partnership with the European Union, of which Slovakia is an important member.
After concluding his Slovakia visit, the Prime Minister will return to France to participate in the G7 Summit in Evian on June 16 and 17. He noted that India’s invitation to the summit for the eighth consecutive time reflects the growing trust and confidence of global partners in the country’s international role.
The visit will conclude in Paris on June 18, where Mr. Modi will attend VivaTech 2026 alongside President Macron and interact with members of the Indian community.
Meanwhile, Indian Ambassador to Slovakia Apoorva Srivastava said the Prime Minister’s visit is expected to open new avenues for cooperation in trade, defence, research, and tourism. She noted that bilateral trade between India and Slovakia has surpassed 1.8 billion US dollars and expressed confidence that closer engagement would further strengthen ties between the two countries
