In a significant step towards promoting self-employment and strengthening rural livelihoods, Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Thursday distributed ducklings and chicks among members of various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at a programme held at Lok Bhavan in Agartala.
The initiative, undertaken by the State Government, aims to encourage duck and poultry farming as sustainable income-generating activities for rural households, particularly women associated with SHGs.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor underscored the importance of self-reliance and entrepreneurship in rural communities. He noted that livestock and poultry farming can play a crucial role in improving the economic condition of families and creating new avenues of livelihood in villages.
The Governor urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the assistance provided and contribute to the growth of the rural economy through scientific and sustainable farming practices.
The programme forms part of the government's ongoing efforts to empower Self-Help Groups, enhance household incomes and promote rural development across the state.
