Minister Sudhangshu Das inaugurates Liquid Nitrogen Plant to Boost Livestock Sector

Minister for Scheduled Caste Welfare, Fisheries, and Animal Resources Development Sudhangshu Das on Tuesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Liquid Nitrogen Production Centre and a newly constructed office building at Radhakishore Nagar, marking a major step towards strengthening the state's livestock and dairy sectors.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the minister highlighted the vital role of the Animal Resource Development Department in securing the livelihoods of livestock farmers and enhancing rural economic growth. He stressed that the adoption of modern animal husbandry technologies is essential for increasing farmers’ incomes, improving livestock productivity, and accelerating the development of the dairy industry.

“The state government is committed to implementing progressive initiatives to modernize the livestock sector. The commissioning of this Liquid Nitrogen Production Centre will significantly strengthen the artificial insemination programme, enabling the production of improved cattle breeds and boosting milk and livestock output across the state,” Das said.

The minister further stated that Tripura is moving towards self-reliance in liquid nitrogen production. Once three such production plants become operational under the project, the state will be able to ensure an uninterrupted supply of liquid nitrogen required for artificial insemination services, reducing dependence on supplies from outside the state.

He expressed confidence that the initiative would contribute substantially to the overall development of the livestock sector and help improve the socio-economic condition of livestock farmers.

MLA Ratan Chakraborty, who attended the programme, praised the state government's efforts in promoting animal resource development and rural prosperity. Animal Resource Development Department Secretary Deepa D. Nair and Director Dr. Neeraj Kumar Chanchal also addressed the gathering.
