Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday flagged off 13 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) to strengthen healthcare services in the hill districts of Manipur. The initiative has been launched under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan.

The flag-off ceremony was held at the Directorate of Health Services in Imphal, in the presence of senior health officials, including the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Health & Family Welfare), Director of Health Services, and the State Mission Director of National Health Mission.

The Mobile Medical Units will provide a comprehensive range of services such as general outpatient consultations, basic diagnostic tests, distribution of essential medicines, maternal and child healthcare, screening for non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension, oral healthcare, health education and awareness programmes, and referral services when necessary.

The initiative aims to improve access to quality healthcare for residents of remote and underserved hill areas, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to strengthening public health infrastructure.
