MEA Urges Global Action over Alleged Rights Abuses in PoJK
Jun 09, 2026
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday expressed concern over reports of alleged police brutality in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), stating that several protesters have reportedly been killed and many others injured.
Addressing a media briefing in New Delhi, MEA Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India has taken note of the developments and described the incidents as serious. He added that India hopes the international community will take cognisance of the situation and hold Pakistan accountable for alleged human rights violations in the region.
Mr. Jaiswal also said that New Delhi continues to witness what it calls a pattern of fake news and misleading videos originating from Pakistan. He described these as attempts to deflect global attention from Pakistan’s internal challenges and its human rights record.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions and renewed scrutiny of the situation in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
