PM Modi Congratulates Major Abhilasha Barak on UN Honour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Major Abhilasha Barak on being conferred the United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award.
In a social media message, the Prime Minister described the honour as a recognition of Major Barak’s exemplary service and dedication. He said the award not only acknowledges her individual commitment but also reflects India’s longstanding and significant contribution to UN peacekeeping missions across the world.
Mr Modi further noted that Major Barak’s achievement serves as an inspiration to countless young Indians, particularly women, who aspire to serve the nation and humanity with distinction.
Major Barak is currently serving as an Engagement Team Commander and Gender Focal Point with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, where she has been actively involved in promoting gender advocacy and community engagement as part of the UN’s peacekeeping efforts.
