The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s 16-member T20 International squad for the upcoming tours of England and Ireland, marking a significant leadership change in the team setup.
Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the new T20I captain, replacing Suryakumar Yadav. Young batter Tilak Varma has been named vice-captain for the series.
The selection committee has also rewarded promising talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi with his maiden call-up following an impressive IPL 2026 season, where he finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer. Meanwhile, Prince Yadav has also been included in the squad.
The squad was finalised at a meeting of the Men’s Selection Committee chaired by Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar, along with BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. The meeting also discussed selections for India’s upcoming commitments, including the Asian Games in Japan and India A’s multi-day tour of Sri Lanka.
