Nine Killed in Israeli Strikes in Southern Lebanon

At least nine people, including three Lebanese soldiers, were killed on Saturday in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Army. The strikes came just days after Israel and Lebanon agreed to a new US-mediated ceasefire.
The Lebanese Army said one airstrike targeted a road linking the city of Nabatiyeh and the town of Marjayoun, killing a brigadier general, a captain, and another soldier. In a separate strike on the village of Saksakiyah, six civilians were killed and four others injured.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the strike that killed the Lebanese soldiers.
In a statement, the Lebanese Army accused Israel of undermining efforts to restore stability, implement a comprehensive ceasefire, and secure Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territory it considers occupied.
The latest ceasefire agreement was reached through negotiations mediated by the United States between Israel and the Lebanese government. However, Hezbollah has rejected the arrangement, raising concerns about the durability of the truce.
