Tripura Panchayats Win National Recognition: Minister Barman Applauds Grassroots Effort

In a significant boost to rural governance in Tripura, several panchayats across the state have been conferred with the prestigious National Panchayat Awards–2025 for their outstanding performance in rural development and local self-governance.
Announcing the achievement at a press conference held at the Civil Secretariat in Agartala on Saturday, Panchayat Department, Higher Education, and General Administration (Political) Minister Kishor Barman highlighted the importance of the recognition and praised the collective efforts behind the success.
The minister informed that the awards were granted in recognition of excellence in key areas such as transparency in administration, good governance practices, efficient public service delivery, social welfare initiatives, and the development of sustainable rural infrastructure. He said the accomplishment reflects Tripura’s steady progress in strengthening grassroots institutions and empowering rural communities.
Minister Barman emphasized that the recognition is the result of coordinated efforts between elected panchayat representatives, government officials, and local residents. “This achievement showcases the dedication, sincerity, and commitment of our grassroots institutions. It is a proud moment for Tripura and a testament to the hard work being carried out at the village level,” he stated.
He further reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to bolstering rural development initiatives and extending necessary support to panchayats for expanding their development activities. According to the minister, the national recognition will serve as a motivation for local bodies to adopt innovative approaches and further enhance governance and service delivery mechanisms.
Expressing optimism about the future, Barman said the government will continue to prioritize inclusive growth and sustainable development to ensure long-term progress in rural areas across the state.
