PM Modi Launches ₹18,800 Crore Projects in Surat to Boost Growth and Ease of Living

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹18,800 crore in Surat, covering key sectors including roads, power, and industry. The Prime Minister said the projects will accelerate economic growth and significantly improve the “Ease of Living” for citizens.
Addressing a public gathering on the occasion of World Environment Day, Mr. Modi expressed pride in being in Surat, one of the cleanest cities in the country. He underlined India’s steady progress towards a greener future and said the nation is actively contributing to the global transition to renewable energy.
Highlighting Gujarat’s early initiatives in the renewable sector, he noted that Gujarat had set up a dedicated renewable energy department at the beginning of this century. He also recalled that India’s first solar park was established in Charanka in Patan district, marking a major milestone in the country’s clean energy journey.
