Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the global expansion of Yogasan sports will open up new possibilities and career paths for athletes and professionals associated with the discipline.
Virtually addressing the inaugural edition of the World Yogasana Sports Championship at Eka Arena in Ahmedabad, the Prime Minister described Yoga as India’s timeless gift to humanity. He said Yoga unites the mind, body and spirit, and inspires a healthier and more harmonious world.
Expressing confidence in the success of the maiden championship, Mr Modi said the event would help provide Yogasan with a distinct global sports identity. He noted that every major sport develops a comprehensive ecosystem around it, creating employment and professional opportunities at multiple levels.
The Prime Minister said that as Yogasan sports expand internationally, they will generate significant opportunities not only for athletes but also for trainers, coaches, sports scientists, researchers and event managers. He added that the growing recognition of Yogasan as a competitive sport will strengthen India’s sporting landscape while offering diverse career avenues for the youth.
