Minister Ratan Lal Nath Hails Grape Cultivation as New Path to Tripura’s Agricultural Self-Reliance

Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Wednesday described the emerging success of commercial grape cultivation in Chandidpur, Unakoti district, as a “new dream” for the state’s agricultural future.
Addressing a programme aimed at promoting grape farming, Nath said the high-quality grapes being produced in the region reflect the combined efforts of farmers and agricultural scientists. He noted that such initiatives mark a significant step toward making Tripura more self-reliant in agriculture.
“The sweetness of these grapes is not only a matter of taste; it carries the story of a self-reliant Tripura,” the minister said, expressing optimism about the crop’s potential to diversify and modernize the state’s farming sector.
During the event, modern agricultural equipment was distributed among farmers, which Nath described as “planting new seeds of development.” He emphasized that modernization, diversification, and strengthening farmers’ financial independence will be central to Tripura’s agricultural progress in the coming years.
The programme was also attended by other dignitaries, including Minister Tinku Roy, who joined in supporting the initiative aimed at boosting innovative farming practices in the state.
