Minister for Scheduled Caste Welfare, Fisheries, and Animal Resources Development Sudhangshu Das chaired the 2nd Board Meeting of the Tripura Fisheries Development Board at the Secretariat on Tuesday, reviewing ongoing programmes and developmental initiatives across the state.
During the meeting, Das emphasized the need for timely implementation of fisheries projects to further strengthen the sector in Tripura. He directed officials to ensure that all planned activities are completed within stipulated timelines, stressing that delays would hamper the state’s aquaculture growth trajectory.
The Minister reviewed the progress of key initiatives, including the creation of new water bodies, cage culture, and biofloc culture programmes aimed at boosting fish productivity. Das also called for closer coordination with local representatives to ensure welfare schemes reach beneficiaries effectively.
Das, who holds the portfolios of SC Welfare, Fisheries, and Animal Resources Development, has been actively pushing for the reclamation of abandoned water bodies for fish farming and has frequently instructed department officials to accelerate project execution.
The 2nd Board Meeting of the Tripura Fisheries Development Board marks a significant step in the state’s efforts to expand its fisheries sector and enhance rural livelihoods through aquaculture development.
