Monsoon Arrives Early in Mizoram, IMD Issues Landslide Warning

The southwest monsoon officially arrived in Mizoram on Tuesday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), marking an onset six days earlier than usual.

The IMD stated that the monsoon has also advanced over other Northeastern states and Kerala ahead of its normal schedule this year.

Following the official announcement, the weather department urged the public to remain vigilant as the rainy season begins. The IMD warned that Mizoram remains highly vulnerable to landslides during periods of heavy rainfall.

Residents and vehicle drivers have been advised to exercise caution, particularly in landslide-prone and hilly areas, as continuous rain may trigger road blockages and slope failures.

The department has urged people to follow weather updates and take necessary precautions during heavy downpours.
