“₹80,000 Justice Scam? Mother of Murdered BJP Worker Alleges Fraud by ‘Journalist’ Couple in Tripura”
May 24, 2026
A complaint has been lodged in Tripura alleging that the mother of murdered BJP worker Ashish Das was cheated of over ₹80,000 by a self-styled journalist and her husband, who allegedly promised to help ensure justice in the case.
The complainant, Anguribala Das, has accused Nibedita Chakraborty and her husband Ram Chakraborty of approaching her soon after her son’s murder and claiming they could help expedite court proceedings and ensure strict punishment for the accused.
According to the complaint, the duo initially took ₹4,000 in cash and later received ₹71,000 through multiple online transfers, taking the total amount to over ₹75,000. The grieving mother alleged that despite repeated follow-ups, she was given vague assurances and no concrete progress was made, eventually leading her to believe she had been deceived.
Anguribala Das has urged Chief Minister Manik Saha and police authorities to take strict legal action against those named in the complaint.
Meanwhile, Nibedita Chakraborty has denied all allegations, calling them “false and politically motivated.” She claimed the accusations were an attempt to malign her image after her platform exposed alleged corruption involving influential political figures and said her organisation has been targeted in retaliation.
