UNC Delegation Meets Manipur CM Over Security Concerns

A six-member delegation of the United Naga Council on Saturday met Yumnam Khemchand Singh and members of the state cabinet at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to discuss the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, and several Naga MLAs.

During the discussion, the UNC urged the government to intensify efforts to trace six abducted Naga villagers from Konsakhul village in Kangpokpi district. Responding to the demand, the Chief Minister said the case would be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for investigation.

He stated that search and rescue operations have been underway since May 14 to locate the missing villagers. The Chief Minister also appealed to the UNC to help facilitate the release of 14 Kuki civilians who have reportedly been held captive since the incident began.
